Procedurally sculpted meshes
Dis Pontibus 2 » Devlog
I've been working on the island floors. Before, I simply constructed the islands instantiating multiple tiles; now, the floors consist of only one mesh, procedurally sculpted according to the spaces occupied by each island.
This technique has several advantages:
- it renders faster
- it loads faster
- textures applied to the floor look more organic
- it gives me more fine-grained control of the global shape of the islands
I plan to use the same technique later to construct other objects on the islands.
(by the way, I also enhanced the water a bit; more water experiments to come)
